SNOWY
The weather may be cooling, but I'll warm your heart if you adopt me. I'm Snowy, a lovely ferret, spayed female, approximately 6 years of age. I occasionally give "love bites," so I'm best with an experienced and committed owner/guardian. Please come to Nevada SPCA today to meet me and hundreds of other rescued sweethearts, from hamsters to rabbits to guinea pigs to cats and dogs, and more who also need forever homes.
The Nevada SPCA is a no-kill animal sanctuary located at 4800 W. Dewey Drive in Las Vegas. For more information on animals featured here, visit www.nevadaspca.org, or call 873-7722.
BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS TO TAKE PLACE NOV. 25
Good Samaritan Lutheran Church, 6500 Flamingo Road, will host a Blessing of the Pets event, Nov. 25, at 12:30 p.m.
Pet owners are invited to bring their dogs, cats, birds, lizards, horses, gerbils, chinchillas, hamsters, fish, tortoises, etc. The nondenominational service will include a short welcome, a brief reading and an individual blessing of all pets/work partners.
"From companionship to guide dogs to animals involved in the work force, we are here to bless all pets for their health and safety," said The Rev. Don Lorfing, senior pastor of Good Samaritan Lutheran Church. Participants should bring their own water, pet treats and cleanup bags.
DACHSHUND CLUB TO MEET SUNDAY morning
Sin-City Doxies, a Dachshund Community Service Group, will meet Sunday at Dog Park at 9855 Gillespie St. at 10:30 a.m.
In addition to socializing, the group will collect nonperishable food items for those in need, bags of dog and cat food, and other animal-related items for the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Collections will continue at all meet-ups through Dec. 4, when the final presentation of items will be made.

* 3 oz. package Lime Jello
* 1 cup boiling water
* 1 cup sour cream
* 8 oz. can crushed pineapple and juice
* 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
* Maraschino cherries for garnish
Dissolve Jello in boiling water. Refrigerate until Jello begins to set, being careful that Jello does not become firm, just mushy. Next, add sour cream and mix thoroughly, using an egg beater, whisk or electric mixer until mixture is smooth and creamy. Then, add pineapple and walnuts. Place in a mold and refrigerate until very firm. When ready to serve, unmold onto a plate and garnish with Maraschino cherries encircling the mold.
