WENDY'S GOLF EVENT RETURNS TO LAKE LAS VEGAS

In its 11th year at Lake Las Vegas, the Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge, a nationally televised professional golf tournament benefiting the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, will be held today at Reflection Bay Golf Club, 1600 Lake Las Vegas Parkway. The event is free and open to the public.

HENDERSON SWIMMING POOLS WIN AWARD

Two city of Henderson swimming pools were named as 2007 Pool Cool award recipients, the Henderson Multigenerational Pool and the Black Mountain Aquatics Center.

Pool Cool is a sun safety education program designed to increase awareness, motivation, and sun protection practices among children ages 5-10 who take swimming lessons, their parents and pool staff and users.

LOCAL GYMNAST TO COMPETE IN HOUSTON EVENT

Danielle Dessaints of Gymcats will be competing in a TOPS competition in Houston in December. The coaching staff of the U.S. Olympic team will attend the event.

Upper level gymnasts such as Dessaints put in over 30 hours a week in the gym training in competitive skills and TOPS required skills, the standards for elite gymnasts set by the USAG.
