The fine arts department of Coronado High School, 1001 Coronado Center Drive, was chosen as a national finalist in the Grammy Signature Schools program sponsored by the Grammy Foundation and Grammy in the Schools. It is among 106 schools from around the U.S. selected as finalists.
BASIC HIGH SCHOOL COMPETES IN STOCK MARKET CHALLENGE
On Oct. 30, 12 students representing three teams from Basic High School, 400 Palo Verde Drive, competed in the Stock Market Challenge hosted by Junior Achievement. Basic's three teams took first, third and fifth places.
SILVESTRI TEACHER WINS AMERICAN STAR OF TEACHING
Silvestri Junior High School teacher Margaret (Peggy) Summers is the Nevada winner for the American Star of Teaching award, which recognizes and honors teachers who have a track record of improving student achievement, using innovative instructional strategies and making a difference in the lives of their students.
Summers has been with the Clark County School District for more than 30 years. Silvestri Junior High School is located at 1055 Silverado Ranch Blvd.
REGIS UNIVERSITY TO OFFER NEW DEGREE PROGRAM

PROGRESS REPORTS TO GO OUT NOV. 30
In addition to the parent communication system available on school Web sites, progress reports/unsatisfactory notices will be distributed to students by the school on Nov. 30. If your child is absent from school when they are distributed, contact the school to make arrangements to receive the notice. Due to this change of regulation, unsatisfactory notices will not be mailed home this year.
