Dillon A. Moffitt, 18, has attained Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.

Moffitt, a 2007 graduate of Palo Verde High School, is the son of Brian and Barbara Moffitt of Las Vegas.

For his Eagle project, Moffitt helped remove a tremendous amount of Russian knapweed from the Las Vegas Springs Preserve in the mid-July heat.

Cassandra Vasquez, 10, received a silver medal in figure skating for preliminary compulsories at the State Games of America, an Olympic style event held in Colorado Springs, Colo., Aug. 2-5.

Cassandra is the daughter of Ed Vasquez and Sharon Luckey of Las Vegas.
