LEARN TO MAKE ECO-FRIENDLY HALLOWEEN COSTUMES

Get ready for Halloween and participate in fun, fashionable and eco-friendly activities. Watch Clark County School District students put on a green fashion show featuring outfits made from household recyclables and learn about recycling, sustainability and pitching in to protect the environment. The event is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday on the lower level of the Center Court of the Galleria at Sunset mall.

HARVEST BOUTIQUE TO BE HELD THIS WEEKEND

The Las Vegas Crafters Guild will hold a Harvest Boutique from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 Water St. The craft show includes jewelry, woodcrafts, quilts, baby items, sculpture, ceramics and holiday gifts.

MONTELAGO VILLAGE HAS FALL EVENTS THIS WEEKEND

The MonteLago Village Fall Fine Arts Festival will have over 50 fine artists displaying handcrafted artwork and live entertainment, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Also on Saturday at 30 Strada Di Villaggio will be the season's final New Vista Community Wine Walk, with over 20 different wines available in shops and restaurants from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $30 each or two for $50 and all of the proceeds will be going to New Vista Community.

CLARK COUNTY PARK NOW OPEN

Clark County dedicated Pebble Park at the corner of Pebble Road and Eastern Avenue on Sept. 20. The park is approximately 6.5 acres located around a flood control basin.

The park includes a covered children's playground, a water play area, picnic pavilions, a walking path and open turf areas. For more information, call 455-8200.

GROUP TO DISCUSS WOMEN'S HEALTH ISSUES

Shalom Hadassah invites the public to its monthly meeting to hear to Dr. Pamela Ivey, a board-certified cardiologist from Cardiovascular Consultants of Nevada, and Beth Bromberg, a breast cancer survivor, speak about women's health.

DEEPAK CHOPRA TO PARTICIPATE IN ONE BOOK HENDERSON

Bestselling author and motivational speaker Deepak Chopra will speak at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 21 as part of Henderson Libraries' One Book Henderson program.

An Afternoon with Deepak Chopra is just one of 30 events hosted by the libraries that will take place throughout October and November as part of the program.

ANNUAL BOWL-A-THON IS SATURDAY

The Southern Nevada Domestic Violence Task Force's 10th annual Bowl-A-Thon will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive.

More than 25,000 new cases of domestic violence were filed in Clark County in 2006. Nationally, 3.3 million children are exposed to domestic violence in their homes each year. The Southern Nevada Domestic Violence Task Force is a group of local domestic violence advocates working to provide support to victims and families of the crime.

The cost of the event is $35 per bowler and includes three games, shoe rental and a T-shirt.

Business mixer to be held Oct. 25

The Henderson Chamber of Commerce will host its annual business showcase and mixer, which highlights the products and services of several Henderson businesses, from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort, 101 Montelago Blvd. More than 30 businesses will be showcased at the event.

Registration is open to Henderson Chamber of Commerce members and businesses. The event itself is free and open to the public. More than 400 business professionals are expected to attend.
