Ward 3 Councilman Jack Clark was absent from the Oct. 16 Henderson City Council meeting. All other members and Mayor Jim Gibson were in attendance.
CITY MANGER LEADS FINAL MEETING
Gibson, council members and staff presented retiring City Manger Philip Speight with a gift at the end of his last City Council meeting.
Speight, who has served as city manager for nearly 20 years, will begin working as chief of staff to Rep. Jon Porter, R-Nev., in Washington, D.C., in November.
FLU AWARENESS WEEK PROCLAMATION GIVEN
Gibson and members of the council declared Oct. 15-19 as Flu Awareness Week, urging residents to take flu prevention steps.
CONSENT AGENDA APPROVED
The consent agenda of 55 items was approved with a 4-0 vote with the exception of two items.
CA-004, adoption of the minutes of the committee and regular City Council meetings of Oct. 2, was pulled.
Also pulled CA-053, in which applicant Dublin Trails LLC was asking the city to amend a previously approved zone change and seeking an extension to rezone from low-density residential with hillside overlay to low-density residential with hillside and planned unit development overlays on 11.7 acres on Viento Puntero Drive approximately a half-mile south of Horizon Ridge Parkway. These items will be heard at a later date.
AUTOMOTIVE GROUP WITHDRAWS ITEMS
Unfinished business item UB-059 and new business item NB-072 by applicant Ascent Automotive Group, located at 1100 Warm Springs Road, were both withdrawn. The Planning Commission had recommended denial of the requested zone change from a community commercial with master development plan overlay to auto mall commercial with master development plan overlay.
CLARK APPOINTMENT TO BE HEARD ON NOV. 6
A request to appoint Ward 3 Councilman Jack Clark to the Henderson Convention Center and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors was rescheduled for the Nov. 6 meeting.
