FOUNDATION TO PRESENT ART FOR EDUCATION

The Anthony L. Pollard Foundation will present its ninth annual Art for Education program from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Stirling Club in the Turnberry Towers, 2827 Paradise Road.

The event, which will feature paintings, sculptures and custom jewelry, will benefit the foundation's Rainbow Dreams Academy Building Fund and scholarship program. For more information, contact Diane Hughes at 255-6659.

CCSD APPROVES OVERSIGHT PANEL APPOINTMENTS

Clark County School District trustees have approved the appointment of Mark Pavis as chair and Don Snyder as vice chair of the Oversight Panel for School Facilities. Both appointments are for two-year terms expiring on Dec. 31, 2009.

APPLICATION TO SPONSOR NEW CHARTER SCHOOLS WITHDRAWN

CCSD trustees have authorized a request to the Nevada State Department of Education to withdraw the district's application to sponsor new charter schools for the 2007-08 school year. The school district will continue to service the charter schools that are currently sponsored.

CSN OFFERS STUDENTS DISCOUNTED TICKETS

The College of Southern Nevada Performing Arts Center at the Cheyenne Campus is offering CCSD students discounted tickets for CSN-sponsored theater, dance and music events. CCSD ID must be shown at the box office to receive the discount. Call 651-5483 for a listing of events.
