And the survey says
City employees express workplace dissatisfaction

VIEW STAFF WRITER

Boulder City workers fired a salvo of discontent during an employee survey that was released within City Hall recently, and City Manager Vicki Mayes, together with Public Works Director Scott Hansen, were caught in the crosshairs of workplace unhappiness.

The 100-question survey was the creation of a Change Team committee, a group of city workers associated with making system-wide changes in city services for the past 11 months.

Swimmers earn medals at junior Olympic event

A number of the Boulder City/Henderson Heatwave Swim Team swimmers recently returned from competing in the 2007 Southern California Swimming Summer Junior Olympic Championships in Fullerton, Calif. The championships were hosted by the FAST Swim Team and were held at the Janet Evans Swim Complex on Aug. 1-5.

"The kids competed extremely well at the Junior Olympics," head coach Mike Polk said. "We've gotten to the point where we've turned the corner as a team. Even when we travel to California, our swimmers are expecting to do well. In the past, the fear factor would affect us when we competed against the big California teams. Now the kids just step up to the starting blocks and race, and we have some amazing swimmers. This was arguably our best year ever."
