EDUCATION
Students can receive degree at reduced cost
The University of Southern Nevada's College of Pharmacy has joined the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education's Professional Student Exchange Program as a cooperating school.
The PSEP allows students to pursue an academic degree at a cooperating institution of their choice, if the degree program is not offered at any college or university in their home state. Financial aid in the form of a support fee is paid by the student's home state to defray the cost of tuition. With University of Southern Nevada's College of Pharmacy as part of the PSEP program, students from Alaska, Hawaii and Nevada may pursue a doctor of pharmacy degree at the college at a reduced cost.
The college will begin accepting applications from PSEP students in January 2008 for the 2008-09 academic year.

Master's degree now required for therapists
To attract more occupational therapy practitioners to Southern Nevada, Nevada State College has partnered with Touro University Nevada's School of Occupational Therapy to prepare students to earn the master's degree required for entry into the profession.
Since January, a master's degree in occupational therapy has been required to enter into the field.
To ease students' transition, NSC and TU officials have developed a bachelor's degree program in occupational science that leads directly into the occupational therapy master's degree program at Touro University's School of Occupational Therapy.
Through the program, students complete the first three years of their bachelor's degree in occupational science at Nevada State College and then transfer seamlessly to Touro University for their final two years.
