Arranging priorities
Commission recommends bubble cover for pool, playground surface

By FRED COUZENS
VIEW STAFF WRITER

Burned and ignored in recent years over its recommendations for parks capital improvements, the Parks and Recreation Commission this year pared down its list of priority items for the 2008-09 fiscal year to four valued at $517,000.

Those items include $50,000 -- the first set-aside payment of a five-year, $25,000-a-year plan -- for a new air support structure, also known as "the bubble" at the swimming pool, $85,000 for a shade structure and playground safety surface at Broadbent Memorial Park, $370,000 for restrooms at Bicentennial Park, and $12,000 for new scoreboards at Veterans Memorial Park.

Local rider is a breakaway star
Low performs well in World Finals roping

By JIM KONST
SPECIAL TO VIEW

Local equestrian star Kyndra Low has been working hard this year, practicing at least four to five times a week for four hours a session, and entering as many Lil' Britches rodeos as her sponsors would help pay for.

"I was so excited about going to the World Finals," Kyndra Low said. "I've been working so hard, and I did pretty well in breakaway roping. This was my first time, and I really enjoyed the experience. I loved it, and can't wait to go back."
