MONEY NEEDED FOR SHOES AND SOCKS

The Goodie Two Shoes Foundation is seeking monetary donations to provide more than 1,500 disadvantaged children, pre-selected from 18 Southern Nevada Boys & Girls Clubs, with new shoes, socks, backpacks, school supplies and more during its one-day Goodie Two Shoes Giveaway event in October.

A $10 donation purchases shoes and socks for one child.

INSPIRADA GRAND OPENING TO BE HELD SEPT. 22

Inspirada, a new master-planned community, will celebrate its grand opening with a parade, live entertainment and other festivities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 22 at Solista Park at Inspirada, 1890 Via Firenze.

Food, fun and games will be available at no cost. The parade will feature floats, local bands and performers.

The main stage will host live entertainment throughout the day by community groups and professionals.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MIXER PLANNED

The Henderson Chamber of Commerce will host a mixer from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 27, at Opportunity Village, 451 E. Lake Mead Parkway.

BUSINESS MIXER TO BE HELD IN OCTOBER

The Henderson Chamber of Commerce will host its annual business showcase and mixer, which highlights the products and services of several Henderson businesses, from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort, 101 Montelago Blvd.

More than 30 businesses will be showcased at the event. Registration to participate is open to Henderson Chamber of Commerce members businesses.

The event itself is free and open to the public. More than 400 business professionals are expected to attend.

STATION CASINOS GIVES TO LOCAL SCHOOLS

As part of its Smart Start school partnership initiative, which provides needed financial and volunteer resources to all high-need elementary schools in the valley, Station Casinos presented 70 elementary schools with $5,000 and $10,000 donations totaling $405,000 on Aug. 22.

The donations will be used to assist schools in such efforts as improving test scores, after-school tutoring programs, parent development programs, purchasing library books and more.
