The Clark County School District needs help in archiving its history. Community members are invited to provide memories and collectibles to the district's 50th Anniversary Committee. The committee especially needs elementary school yearbooks and short e-mailed recollections of population growth, events that changed the district, famous alumni, contributions of Las Vegas entertainers, and special programs, such as art, music and athletics. COLLEGE LAUNCHES LECTURER PROGRAM
Nevada State College launched a new lecturer advancement program to provide incentives for all full-time lecturers not on track for tenure. The program allows NSC lecturers the opportunity to continue to advance within the college and be compensated accordingly. Lecturers can be promoted to the level of senior lecturer, and eventually distinguished lecturer. Faculty will receive a salary increase of $1,000 with each advancement. POLICE BUILDING DEDICATED
A dedication ceremony for the new school police building and to honor namesake Lt. Dennis Carew Sr. took place on Aug. 25. The Dennis G. Carew Sr. School Safety Services Center is located at 120 Corporate Drive in Henderson.
The nearly 24,000-square-foot building is the new home for school police operational offices, training rooms and a dispatch center.
