Water palms like fruit trees

Question: Could you give me some watering information on pygmy date palms? I just planted some in desert landscaping with two drip emitters to it. How much water do they need a week?

Water palms like nondesert plants. Put them on a similar schedule as fruit trees. Hand-water newly planted landscape plants daily for the first week or two. Then begin drip irrigation. Two emitters should be enough for a small pygmy date palm, but you will need to give them about four emitters, say 2- to 3-gallon-per-hour emitters, and run them for one hour.
