RECREATION: Best parks for children
Residents have choices from 323-acre behemoth to hidden gems

Southeast residents have a variety of parks to choose from, but the View's picks in terms of available amenities include Sunset, Silverado Ranch, Desert Bloom, Duck Creek and Hidden Palms.

The first and largest on the list, Sunset Park, is located at 2601 E. Sunset Road. "Sunset is one of our oldest, most historic parks, first built in 1967," said Dorothy Wright, program administrator for Clark County Parks and Recreation.

UNLV to complete four new buildings this fall
University opens last phase of student union

UNLV is getting busy. With construction running rampant on the campus, students have a lot to look forward to in the coming months.

For the 2007-08 school year, four new buildings will be completed this fall, with at least three more scheduled to be completed in 2008. In addition, the university is working on a turf-reduction project to reduce the amount of water used on the main campus.
