Sin City has built an international reputation and marketing campaign upon the premise that Las Vegas is a non-stop, whirlwind, pleasurable experience, where entertainment, gambling, world class shopping, eateries and party destinations converge 24 hours a day.

That may be true in many cases, but for a town that breathes by it's edgy, get-anything-you-want-anytime-you-want-it image, finding a late-night dining option that doesn't involve ordering day- old french fries from your car window can be an extremely unpleasant, frustrating and mood-crushing experience.

Still, there are a number of little known dining spots lingering around town, who've made it their business to cater to the late-nighters, some staying open until 4 a.m.

Southwest Las Vegas and Spring Valley options range from upscale, fine dining with Ruth's Chris Steak House at 4561 W. Flamingo Road, to traditional, authentic Russian cuisine at Eliseevsky Russian Restaurant, 4825 W. Flamingo Road, Suite 10.

Ruth's Chris, open from 4:30 p.m. to 3 a.m., creates a mellow and refreshing ambience with softly dimmed lighting and a single votive candle at the center of every table, a display wine bar, white-linen-covered dining nooks, New Orleans-inspired works of art, and cherry wood throughout.

"It's not just about the dining experience," said manager Kelly Nelson. "Creating a mood for our diners is very important."

The restaurant employs a professional pianist to play in the lounge area Wednesday through Saturday from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

"There's nothing better than sitting back with a great glass of wine; we have more than 600 labels in stock by the way; and forgetting about the world while you listen to great music," Nelson said.

Ruth's Chris' menu includes both steak and seafood dishes, with an average price of approximately $25 per entrée.

"We do some of our best business after 11 p.m.," Nelson said. "There are a lot of industry people who get off of work and want to go somewhere nice for a great meal. We provide not just superior cuisine, but a dining experience for the late-night diner."

For those craving a more cultural experience, visit Eliseevsky Russian Restaurant.

This traditional Russian eatery is designed to resemble a pre-Cold War Russian Village, cleverly decorated with Russian-themed scarves, dolls and folk art.

The menu includes authentic dishes like Solyanka, a classic Russian soup, and Kurochka-Riaba, a mushroom- and onion-stuffed chicken breast served with potatoes. The average entrée price is approximately $12.

The restaurant, open Tuesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., also features top-shelf vodka with a special twist.

"The shots are flavored," said patron Joel Eckerley. "You can't find anything like it, anyplace else in town. My wife enjoys the strawberry. I like the horseradish because it makes my eyes water before I even take a swig."

If you're an adventurous soul who can't seem to fight that craving for breakfast at 3 a.m., the social butterfly who feels the need to share a heaping platter of Volcanic Nachos or the casino worker who can't seem to resist the siren song of Kung Pao fresh scallops after a shift ends at 2 a.m., check out the following late night dining options to maintain a happy pallet.

The Sundance Grill inside the Silverton Casino, 3333 Blue Diamond Road, serves up American-style cuisine, from pancakes to chicken-fried steak, 24 hours a day.

"You can come in and order breakfast, lunch and dinner any time of day," said food and beverage training manager John Lindquist. "And our portion sizes are substantial. We specialize in comfort food."

With a friendly wait staff and quirky lodge décor, Sundance swiftly has become a favorite among locals.

Dane Good visits the eatery at least twice a month with his wife and young sons.

"This is a very family-friendly place and that's probably what we love most about it," Good said. "I can bring my kids in here and know that I'm not going to get dirty looks if they are a bit too noisy."

The average entrée price at Sundance Grill is approximately $15. Tahiti Joe's, 7200 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is a mock Tahitian village, complete with tiki torches and khaki-clad servers, featuring a full menu from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The restaurant's cocktail lounge is open 24 hours a day.

"I love the desserts," said Harmony Gormmane of southeast Las Vegas. "Sometimes I wander in around 10 (p.m.) and order dessert only. Their Thai lobster dish is also to die for."

The average price of a Tahiti Joe's entrée is approximately $14.

Located at the heart of Spring Valley's Chinatown, Joyful House Chinese Cuisine, 4601 Spring Mountain Road, provides guests with authentic Chinese cuisine from 11 a.m. through 3 a.m.

"You can order things here that you won't find other places," said assistant manager Tingfung Ma. "We specialize in seafood and traditional Chinese, but you can order items like jelly fish and pork intestine."

This family-friendly, casual restaurant prides itself on the unique preparation and freshness of its seafood.

"We have both Boston Maine and Australian lobsters that you can pick out of our tank," Ma said. "You never have to worry about being served frozen lobster tail here."

The average price for an entrée at Joyful House is approximately $14.
