marlene Karas/ViewHatsuki Luyles takes a picture of her beagle, Lecki, as they joined dog lovers and their pets from across the valley for Clark County Parks and Recreation’s third annual Dog Daze of Summer event on Sept. 8 at the Desert Breeze Aquatic Center, 8275 W. Spring Mountain Road. Proud owners looked on as their canine counterparts, separated by weight, enjoyed water activities, including a much-needed swim in the facility’s outdoor pool (no humans allowed) before it was cleaned and closed for the season. In its first year, Dog Daze of Summer earned the Clark County Parks and Recreation’s Aquatics Section a Nevada Recreation and Parks Society Program Excellence Award for New Concepts. Owners were required to have their dog’s current rabies tag or other proof of vaccination before the animals were allowed in the pool.
