The Sons of Erin and the Premier Adoption Agency announce a fundraising show, "That's What Friends Are For," to benefit children in Southern Nevada. The show will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the South Point.
The show will feature musical acts the Goodfellas, Genevieve, Phil Flowers and George Dare, as well as world champion Irish dancer Sharon Lynn.

Band celebrates single with concert and signing
Local alternative rock band Searchlight will celebrate the release of its new single, "Contagious," to be featured on the "Resident Evil: Extinction" soundtrack with a concert and autograph signing on Saturday at Zia Record Exchange, 4225 S. Eastern Ave. Suite 17.
The performance will begin at 1 p.m., followed by an interactive signing for fans.
JILLIAN'S SHOWCASES BANDS FOR SEPTEMBER

MEXICAN MUSIC ADDS SPICE TO WINCHESTER SERIES

UNLV TO HONOR MEMBERS OF ARTS COMMUNITY
UNLV will induct comedian Rich Little, Nevada Ballet Theatre co-founder Nancy Houssels, architect Thomas Schoeman, and "CSI" creator Anthony Zuiker into the Nevada Entertainer/Artist Hall of Fame at UNLV during an awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Artemus Ham Concert Hall.

STARBRIGHT THEATRE TO FEATURE THE PLATTERS
The Platters, featuring Monroe Powell, will perform with Chico Lamar, Debra Sherman, Don Gloude and Robbie Robinson at Summerlin's Starbright Theatre, 2215 Thomas Ryan Blvd., at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.
For more than 40 years, Powell has been a recording and touring lead vocalist with internationally acclaimed groups, including the Dominoes (1958-63) and The Ink Spots (1960s). He is best known as the lead signer of The Platters for most of the past 30 years.
