Matt Davis was born in a one-room log cabin with one window, one door and no running water. His grandmother, a midwife, performed the delivery.
Though Davis' college days were cut short by his first cancer diagnosis, he has always placed a high priority on education. During one of many career moves, he developed an educational logo program and pushed for its use nationally.
Davis' book, "How Faith Works: An Autobiography by Matt Davis, the Truck Driver from Alabama," tells the true stories of his life, from his humble beginnings and continuing through his bouts with lung and prostate cancer. Davis, who moved to Las Vegas in 1984, has been buoyed up by his faith throughout all his challenges. Along the way, he has looked for God's hand everywhere, including his garden. When a 10-pound zucchini sprang from a seed he planted two years before, Davis took the vegetable on a multi-city tour to share his tale of faith rewarded.
