Robert Frank, 11, has been selected to take part in a leadership conference in Washington, D.C., this fall.

The conference, with the theme Voices of Leadership: Reflecting on the Past to Create the Future, is promoted by the Junior National Young Leaders Conference, which introduces young people to the tradition of leadership throughout American history.

Robert is the son of Shaun Yauch and Kathleen Frank-Yauch of Las Vegas.

Christopher Garibay, son of Toby and Kathy Garibay of Las Vegas, began attending the U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, R.I., in August.

Garibay is a 2007 graduate of Faith Lutheran High School.

He participated in many fine arts programs during high school, including Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Brass Quintet.

He was a member of the Key Club, Tri-M Honor Society and National Art Honor Society.

He also participated in cross country, wrestling and track and field.

Garibay received the Golden Crusader Award, for which winners must letter in all the varsity sports they participate in for that given year.

Garibay has been studying karate since age 9, and holds the rank of third- degree black belt in tae kwon do karate.

In addition to the Nevada Millennium Scholarship, Garibay was awarded the HU Lee Memorial Foundation Scholarship from the American Tae Kwon Do Association, and he received a Kiwanis Club Scholarship in honor of his outstanding scholastic achievement and service to the community.

Taylor Holmes, son of Bill Wheeler and Karissa Holmes of Henderson, graduated from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., in June.

He is now attending Valley Forge Military College in Wayne, Pa.

Pate Thomas was named Summerlin Lions Club Student of the Year at Cimarron-Memorial High School for the school year 2006-07.

Thomas was awarded a $1,000 scholarship for his outstanding scholastic record, participation in extracurricular activities and involvement in his community.

While in high school, Thomas was a scholar athlete.

He played football, tennis, basketball, golf and volleyball.

In addition, he received a White Letter for lettering in three varsity sports in one year.

Thomas' future plans include pursuing an undergraduate degree in criminal justice from UNLV.

After that, he plans to attend law school.

Thierry-Henri Bennett is a junior in the International Baccalaureate program at Valley High School.

Bennett attended the Congressional National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., September 18-23.

Bennett is the son of James and Eva Bennett of Las Vegas.
