POOL CLOSED FOR REPAIRS

The Henderson Multigenerational Center Competition Pool is temporarily closed for repairs to its heating system. All classes and programs have been relocated to other city facilities.

NATURAL SOLUTIONS TO SLEEP PROBLEMS TO BE REVEALED

An lecture on natural solutions to sleep problems will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Parkway. The audience will learn about the importance of sleep in order to maintain good health. The lecture will identify sleep disorders and their causes, discuss the dangers of the drugs marketed for sleep disorders, and explain preventative measures and natural approaches to restful sleep.

The lecture, sponsored by The Foundation for Wellness Professionals, will feature guest speaker Dr. Robert DeMartino.

HENDERSON SHELTER NAMES BOARD OF DIRECTORS

SAFE House, a Henderson nonprofit domestic violence organization, has elected its board of directors for 2008. President is Gerri Schroder, Henderson City Councilwoman; vice president is Martin Dean Dupalo, a UNLV professor; treasurer is Bristol Ellington of the city of Henderson; and secretary is Carol White, GFWC president of special projects. Members at large include Lien Bragg, Clark County Family Services; Cynthia LeVasseur, attorney at Snell & Wilmer; Sabrina Mercadante of the city of Henderson; Ken Proctor, a retired Henderson judge; Leni Proctor, community member; Randy Robinson of the city of Henderson; and Doris Wisher, Touro University.

SAFE House is United Way-accredited and has served Henderson and Clark County since 1995.

ARTAPALOOZA PLANNED FOR APRIL 11 AT CSN HENDERSON

The College of Southern Nevada student government will present the first Artapalooza from 5 to 9 p.m. April 11 at the College of Southern Nevada Henderson Campus in Building B parking lot.

The outdoor festival will feature more than 40 student and community artists exhibiting their work, as well as local bands and food vendors. For more information, call 651-3000.

SOUTH HILLS CHURCH COMMUNITY TO EXPAND

The South Hills Church Community has hired JVC Architects to design a new facility on the southwest corner of St. Rose Parkway and the Las Vegas Beltway.

The 40,000-square-foot church will be completed in two phases of construction. Phase I consists of an entry mall that connects to a main worship area, a multipurpose room, coffee shop, youth ministry, children's ministry and nursery.

Phase II includes design of the main worship facility, which will expand the church's occupancy from 800 to 2,000 people. Construction will begin this spring.

SHALOM HADASSAH WELCOMES GUEST SPEAKER TERRY PALASZ

Shalom Hadassah welcomes Terry Palasz, who is performing in the musical "Hats!" at Harrah's Las Vegas, as its guest speaker for April.

The meeting will be at 11 a.m. April 10 at VOX Wine Lounge, 2630 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway. Lunch will be served.
