Tangerines can stand the cold

Question: Would you tell me if tangerine trees grow fruit in Las Vegas and if they need any shade? I bought one but I don't know if I should bother planting it.

Hang on to your tangerine and try it. Some tangerines, such as the Satsuma type, have a cold tolerance down to 22 degrees, provided they are not in a windy location. Plant it in full sun and in a protected location if possible.

Put it in a location with lots of radiated heat during winter. The trees will become more tolerant to freezes as they get older.

The other thing you could do is grow it as a container plant and move it to a protected area during times when it might get too cold. The trees make excellent container plants, but make sure the container is as large as you can manage.
