Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, an organization dedicated to fighting breast cancer, at its Double D Brunch, March 13. A Prowl for the Cure dance contest was held earlier that week to benefit the cause. The sorority is still taking donations and can be reached at sigma_theta_psi@yahoo.com.

LEARN ABOUT SLOW FOOD MOVEMENT AT UNLV

The University Forum Series will feature a discussion about the slow food movement on Thursday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Barrick Museum Auditorium on the UNLV campus, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.

The slow food movement is in reaction to the prevalence of fast food and promotes food grown close to home to preserve flavor and freshness.

The event is free and open to the public.

GRANT WORKSHOP PLANNED FOR SATURDAY

The East Las Vegas Community Senior Center will host a free how-to workshop on developing a Neighborhood Partners Fund project from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 250 N. Eastern Ave.

The city of Las Vegas is accepting applications for Neighborhood Partner Fund grants through April 25. Grants up to $5,000 are available for neighborhood improvement projects.

RECTREK PROGRAM REGISTRATION UNDER WAY

Walk-in registration for RecTrek, Clark County Parks and Recreation's school break program, is under way.

The program, set for June 9 through Aug. 22, is meant to offer a safe, fun environment for children ages 6 to 12. It offers arts and crafts, theme projects, sports, games, field trips, free time on the playground, theater, movies and science projects. Activities vary by recreation center.

RecTrek is available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, with the exception of the Fourth of July. It takes place at various Clark County recreation centers, including Cambridge, 3930 Cambridge St. (455-7169); Paradise, 4775 McLeod Drive (455-7513); and Parkdale, 3200 Ferndale St.

The cost is $65 per week, or $14 per day, per child. RecTrek registration forms can be downloaded at www. accessclarkcounty.com/parks.

CLARK COUNTY TO HOLD JOB FAIR

A government job fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 26 at the Clark County Government Center Rotunda, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.

Participating sponsors include Clark County, the cities of Las Vegas and North Las Vegas, the Metropolitan Police Department, the Southern Nevada Health District, the Regional Transportation Commission, the Nevada Department of Public Safety and UNLV.

Computers will be available at the event to allow job seekers an on-site access to applications online for posted positions with the various agencies represented.

Informational sessions on topics such as the application process, employment testing and interviewing will be held at scheduled intervals throughout the day in conference rooms located on the first floor of the center. Visit www.lasvegasgovjobs.com.
