Tangerine trees worth a try
Question: Would you be so kind as to tell me if tangerine trees grow fruit in Las Vegas and if they need any shade? I bought one but I don't know if I should even bother planting it.
Hang on to your tangerine and try it. Some tangerines, such as the Satsuma type, have a cold tolerance down to 22 degrees, provided they are not in a windy location. Plant it in full sun and in a protected location if possible.
Use lots of compost in the planting hole when you plant it to help get it established quickly. Put it in a location with lots of radiated heat during winter months. The trees will become more tolerant to freezes as they get older.
