PALO VERDE JOB FAIR, SHOW SET FOR FRIDAY

Palo Verde High School, 333 Pavilion Center Drive, will host a job fair from 7 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Friday. For more information, call 799-1450.

The school also is hosting its sixth annual photography show from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday in the theater lobby. An ethnic food buffet will be served.

GIVENS ELEMENTARY TO COLLECT COATS

Givens Elementary School, 655 Park Vista Drive, is collecting clean, reusable coats and jackets of all shapes and sizes. Bring all donations to the school through April 25. All donated coats will be given to a local school in need.

CENTENNIAL CORPS TO REPRESENT STATE

The Naval Junior Reserve Officer's Corps at Centennial High School, 10200 W. Centennial Parkway, has qualified to represent the state of Nevada at the NJROTC National Academics Drill and Field Meet in Pensacola, Fla.

KAHRE ELEMENTARY STUDENT WINS DRAWING CONTEST

Jessica Diaz, a third-grader in Lynn Davis' class at Kahre Elementary School, 7887 W. Gowan Road, won a recent contest at her school.

Jessica's drawing was selected as the new safety committee logo for Sysco Corp. in Las Vegas, and she received a $100 gift certificate for the Las Vegas Mini Grand Prix and a tour for her and her family at the Sysco-Las Vegas facility at 6201 E. Centennial Parkway. All of the students in Davis' class received a $5 gift certificate for McDonalds, a Sysco hat, a pencil sharpener and pencils for their participation.

Le Cordon Bleu chefs prepare lunch for students

Chefs and students from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Las Vegas recently prepared lunch for 50 students at Orr Middle School, 1562 E. Katie Ave. The meal was served at the Le Cordon Bleu's student-run restaurant, Café Bleu, 1451 Center Crossing Road.

GROUP RAISES FUNDS FOR FORMER RUNNIN' REBEL

The Findlay Automotive Group held a fundraising event to assist former UNLV basketball player Glen Gondrezick with medical costs associated with his pending heart transplant.

The event was held March 28 and 29 at all Findlay motor vehicle dealership locations in the Las Vegas area. The company had pledged to donate $100 for every vehicle purchased at Findlay dealerships on those two days. In total, the automotive group is donating $24,900 to the Gondo Medical Fund.

Gondrezick played for the UNLV Rebels in the 1970s before playing in the NBA for six years. He has been a radio announcer for UNLV basketball for the past two decades.

LAMB OF GOD TO HOLD FUNDRAISER

Lamb of God Lutheran School will hold its annual Evening Under the Stars dinner, silent and live auction on April 26 at Silverstone Golf Club, 8600 Cupp Drive.

CSN'S CHEYENNE CAMPUS TO HOST CAREER FAIR

The College of Southern Nevada's Cheyenne Campus will host a career fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 30 in the student lounge, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.

NEVADA CONTRACTORS OFFER SCHOLARSHIP

The Nevada Contractors Association is accepting applications for its annual David Papadopulo Memorial Scholarship.

Students pursuing a construction-related career with a minimum 2.5 GPA are encouraged to apply. Scholarship winners receive a $3,750 annual stipend and must be either a junior or senior enrolled at UNLV.

The entry deadline for the fall semester is July 15. For more information, call 222-0320.

TOURS AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL OFFERED

Lamb of God Lutheran Elementary School and Preschool are offering tours of the facilities in conjunction with enrollment for the 2008-09 school year.

Located adjacent to the Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 6232 N. Jones Blvd., the private Christian elementary school educates students in full-day kindergarten through fifth grade classes. Its preschool offers two- and three-day half-day programs, as well as full-day programs for children ages 3 to 5.
