LITERARY LAS VEGAS
Las Vegas author Forrest Bryant Johnson has traveled all over to promote his new book. He was flown to Chicago to record an interview for the Pritzker Military Library, which can be downloaded at http://www.pritzkermilitarylibrary.org/events/2008-01-17-forrestBryantJohnson.jsp. He also toured Georgia, where he served as a parade marshal in McKinney's hometown.
McKinney, the book's hero, went from hunting game with a sling-shot in the Georgia swamps to single-handedly killing more than 100 enemy soldiers while defending his position on the battlefield. Johnson learned of McKinney's deeds in 1970 while doing research for his book "Hour of Redemption." Filipino war veterans showed him the spot where the 'phantom warrior' made his stand.
When he's not writing, Johnson and his wife, singer Chiaki Keiko, operate Desert Fox Tours.
