COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN NEVADA TO OFFER NEW DEGREE

The College of Southern Nevada will offer a new degree in the fall -- the associate of arts degree in Latin American and Latina/o studies. The degree will be transferable to UNLV and its bachelor of arts in Latin American studies program.

CATCH 'THE ROSE MOORE SHOW' ON RADIO STATION 1230 KLAV-AM

"The Rose Moore Show" airs live on radio station 1230 KLAV-AM and on Internet radio at www.klav1230am.com from 4 to 5 p.m. every Saturday. The show discusses special needs children in the public school system. Call-in numbers for the show are 731-1230 and 877-520-5528.

CSN'S CHEYENNE CAMPUS TO HOST CAREER FAIR

The College of Southern Nevada's Cheyenne Campus will host a career fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 30 in the student lounge, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.

ASSOCIATION ACCEPTS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

The Nevada Contractors Association is accepting applications for its annual David Papadopulo Memorial Scholarship.

Students pursuing a construction-related career with a minimum 2.5 GPA are encouraged to apply. Scholarship winners receive a $3,750 annual stipend, and must be either a junior or senior level classman enrolled at UNLV.

The entry deadline for fall semester is July 15. For more information, call 222-0320.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY CAN BE REPORTED VIA HOT LINE

The Clark County School District School Police Department's tip hot line can be reached by calling 799-0228. Residents can call to report suspicious activity at schools. Callers can remain anonymous.

GET HOMEWORK HELP OVER THE PHONE ON WEEKDAYS

Homework Hotline is open from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The program offers assistance to students experiencing problems in mathematics or any other subject. Students can call 799-5111 to access the hot line.

UNSATISFACTORY NOTICES TO BE SENT HOME MAY 2

In addition to the parent communication system available on school Web sites, progress reports/unsatisfactory notices will be distributed to students by the school.

If a child is absent from school when the notices are distributed, contact the school to make arrangements to receive the notice. Due to this change of regulation, unsatisfactory notices will not be mailed home this year. Progress reports/unsatisfactory notices will be distributed May 2.

COUNSELING SERVICES WEB SITE OFFERS HELP FOR STUDENTS

The Clark County School District Guidance and Counseling Services Web site includes an updated list of local, state and national scholarships available for district students.

In addition, a list of current college events for high school students is included for use by parents and students. To visit the site, log on to www.ccsd.net/cpd, then click on guidance and counseling.
