Scott Swinford, a 2008 graduate of Cimarron-Memorial High School, was named the school's Spartan Scholar.

This honor goes to the valedictorian who not only earns the highest grade point average, but demonstrates academic excellence by achieving the highest scores in Advanced Placement classes and on exams.

Swinford was named top math and science student by the U.S. Air Force, and has been designated a Nevada State Scholar. He earned an honors diploma, an honors medallion and an AP Scholar Award.

He is enrolled in the honors program at the University of Nevada, Reno, this fall and will pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.

He is the son of Mark and Sheryl Swinford of Las Vegas.

Rosina Hall, 12, a student at Saint Viator Catholic School, made the honor roll with a 91 grade point average.

Rosina was a member of the junior varsity volleyball team and recently represented her school in the Catholic Schools' Forensics Tournament.

She loves art, sports and music, and has studied piano since age 6. She recently performed in a piano recital at the Sahara West Library.

She is the daughter of Angelina and Rolf Hall of Las Vegas.

Martha Hall, 9, a student at Saint Viator Catholic School, made the honor roll with a 97 grade point average.

Martha enjoys art, science, music and sports.

She is a member of the Art Club, Science Club and the Blazers Jump Rope Club at her school.

She has taken piano lessons for three years and recently performed in a piano recital at the Sahara West Library.

She is the daughter of Angelina and Rolf Hall of Las Vegas.

Sonny Ishikawa, 11, has been recognized in the 2007-08 national edition of Who's Who Registry of Academic Excellence and was nominated to participate in the People to People Student Ambassador Program.

Sonny is a student at Explore Knowledge Academy, and is the son of Sky and Sue Ishikawa of Henderson.

Daniel Matthew Greenland, 15, has achieved Eagle status in the Boy Scouts of America.

Greenland, a student at Rancho High School, collected prosthetic limbs for those in need in Guatemala as his Eagle project.

He enjoys sports and being in band.

He is the son of Jay S. Greenland of North Las Vegas.
