WINTERFEST 2008: Let it snow
Parade, ice skating and craft show scheduled for weekend celebration

Chances are it won't be a white Christmas in Southern Nevada, but it will snow in Henderson on Saturday.

The snow is only part of the fun at the city's annual WinterFest Celebration, which starts Thursday at the Henderson Convention Center and the Henderson Events Plaza, both located at 200 S. Water St. in the Water Street District.

The Henderson City Council on Dec. 2 approved $50 million in spending cuts as part of a five-year budget balancing strategy.

"This is deep. This is really deep," Mayor Jim Gibson said. "It's really a new experience for us to be cutting this amount. Times are difficult and are going to become, in all likelihood, more difficult."
