Ceremony kicks off construction of three-story passenger terminal

After a few years of discussions and planning, Monarch Enterprises finally broke ground Jan. 24 for its new passenger terminal at the Boulder City Airport for the exclusive use of its subsidiary business, Papillon Airways.

The three-story facility located at the airport entrance at the foot of Paul Fisher Way off Veterans Memorial Drive will be the gateway for Southern Nevada tourists to travel to and from the Grand Canyon and other sightseeing tours.

Landfill closure fee increases may be back on agenda
Amount could vary based on site expansion possibilities

Just when Boulder City residents and businesses thought the imposition of new landfill closure fees had been put to bed, the issue has been reawakened because of problems associated with the on-going landfill permitting process.

As a result, it's likely the $1.50 per month residential fee and the 45 cent per cubic yard commercial fee will be going up, but city officials aren't sure how much and for how long.
