Actor Paul Newman plans to debut his new wines at a dinner scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 26 and 29 at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, 8721 W. Charleston Blvd.
The dinner will showcase the winemaking talents of Francis Ford Coppola and the new release of Newman's Own Wines.
"When I discovered that Paul Newman was about to introduce two new premium wines through his company, Newman's Own, I jumped at the opportunity to sample them for possible inclusion in our winter wine dinner," said Marian Jansen op de Haar, Fleming's national director of wine. "We couldn't be more thrilled that Mr. Newman chose to premiere his wines at Fleming's."
The two selections making their debut at the dinner are the California Chardonnay and the Cabernet Sauvignon, which will be paired with a menu created by executive chef Russell Skall.

CANCER FACILITY RECEIVES CHECK TOTALING $66K
Gov. Jim Gibbons, along with state Sen. Bob Beers, R-Las Vegas, joined Von's President Tom Keller in presenting a $66,000 check to Nevada Cancer Institute.
The money was raised from residents of Las Vegas in a monthlong fundraising drive during October 2007.
DISTRICT GOVERNOR TO SPEAK AT LIONS CLUB MEETING
The Summerlin Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month at IHop Restaurant, 9651 Trailwood Drive. The guest speaker for Wednesday's meeting will be Ray Pezonella, the group's district governor.

RESIDENTS RECEIVE COMMUNITY AWARD
Two Allstate Insurance Company employees, Darrell Cavanaugh and Misty Chadwick, received the company's Agency Hands in the Community award, which includes a $500 grant from the Allstate Foundation for the nonprofit organizations where they volunteer.
Cavanaugh received a $500 grant for the Boy Scouts of America, where he serves as the Las Vegas Area Bighorn District finance chairman.
Chadwick's $500 grant went to the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. She assists the organization with fundraising efforts for several events.
"We believe in supporting programs to strengthen the communities where we live and work," said Denis Bailey, field vice president for Allstate's Southwest Region.
SENIOR OUTREACH EVENT SET AT TEMPLE
L'Dor V'Dor (Hebrew for Generation to Generation), a senior outreach program, is planned for 10:30 a.m. today at Temple Beth Sholom, 10700 Havenwood Lane.
The event includes lunch and entertainment and provides a social occasion for homebound and facility-bound seniors of all faiths, at no cost to the participants.
When needed, transportation is provided at no cost.
