PUBLIC EDUCATION FOUNDATION TO AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS

The Public Education Foundation is offering scholarships to high school seniors planning to continue their education at an accredited college or university.

The scholarships range from $500 to $40,000, and applications must be postmarked by March 7 to be eligible for consideration. Applicants also can deliver their applications to the foundation's office, 3360 W. Sahara Ave., Suite 160, on or before March 7. Access applications at www.thepef.org.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT SUMMIT SET FOR FRIDAY

TEACHERS OBTAIN NATIONAL CERTIFICATION

Several Clark County School District teachers obtained a National Board Certification during the past year.

The teachers are Cathy Estes, Vanderburg Elementary, 2040 Desert Shadow Trail; Michele Fendell, McCaw Elementary, 57 Lynn Lane; Murray Hardin, Kitty Ward Elementary, 5555 Horse Drive; Amber Jones, Brown Junior High, 307 N. Cannes St.; Gloria Lee, Chaparral High School, 3850 Annie Oakley Drive; and Laura Ozawa, Beatty Elementary, 8685 Hidden Palms Parkway.

APPLICANTS SOUGHT FOR EPICUREAN FOUNDATION

The Epicurean Charitable Foundation Las Vegas is seeking applications for its annual college scholarship program. Candidates need to be senior high school students who are passionate about pursuing a career in the hospitality and culinary arts industries.

Scholarship applications are available online at www.ecflv.org and must be submitted by March 7.

MCDONALD'S TO AWARD SCHOLARSHIP TO SENIORS

The Ronald McDonald House of Las Vegas and the McDonald's Owner Operators of Greater Las Vegas are offering scholarships to local graduating seniors with a 2.5 cumulative, unweighted GPA who plan to attend an accredited post-secondary education institution in the fall of 2008.

The required application documents must be completed and returned to the Ronald McDonald house by March 7.

FOUNDATIONS HOLD ARBOR DAY POSTER CONTEST

The Nevada Division of Forestry and the National Arbor Day Foundation are holding a poster contest open to fifth-grade students. The theme is "Trees are terrific inside and out."

ATHLETES CAN RECEIVE MILK SCHOLARSHIPS

High school seniors can apply for the Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year awards program at http://sammy.bodybymilk.com.

Winners will receive a $7,500 scholarship, attend an awards ceremony with celebrity guests at The Milk House at Disney's Wide World of Sports and appear in a milk mustache ad in USA Today.

Entries must be submitted no later than March 7. Finalists will be named by June.
