Cy Frederick of Las Vegas graduated from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Ind., in December with a bachelor of arts degree in theology.

Frederick, the son of Sherman and Christina Frederick of Las Vegas, is a graduate of Faith Lutheran Junior/Senior High School.

Sarah Zwintscher of Henderson graduated cum laude from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Ind., in December, earning a bachelor of arts degree in political science.

Zwintscher, a graduate of Clark High School, is the daughter of Paul and Lois Zwintscher of Henderson.

Codi Faulkner, 18, has achieved Eagle status in the Boy Scouts of America.

Faulkner, the son of Jeff and Jodi Faulkner, is currently an intern for New Horizons Computer Center and vice president of the local XNA Gaming Platform Users Group.

For his Eagle project, he and other Troop 633 members, leaders and volunteers contributed 75 white boards to Carl Elementary School in an effort to prevent paper waste and save trees.

Faulkner has held the positions of scribe, assistant patrol leader, crew vice president and historian in the Boy Scouts.

His hobbies include computers, X-Box 360 and Playstation games, and he is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Coppercrest Ward.

Kelley Hirsch, the daughter of Stephen and Susan Hirsch of Las Vegas, has been named to the dean's list at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn.

Hirsch was named to the list for academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2007-08 school year.

This is Hirsch's senior year at the college.

To be included on the dean's list, a student must have achieved a semester grade point average of at least 3.75.

Gianna Riopta, 7, a student at Ober Elementary School, competed in the Nationals 2008 Miss Jr. Pre-Teen Las Vegas Pageant competition, Feb. 17.

Gianna competed in the Miss Jr. pre-teen division for young ladies ages 7-19.

She is the daughter of Gerry and Melissa Riopta of Las Vegas.

Cody Sharp, 11, earned four A grades and two B grades in the first semester of this year at Cortney Middle School.

Cody takes private trumpet lessons and has been first chair the entire season.

He's played five seasons of tackle football for coach Sean Varner, most recently in the USFLL Sam Mills League as full back/half back (offensive; middle linebacker defensive), and he was one of the team captains of the Green Valley Knights, a team that was Liberty Conference Champions.

Cody is the son of Erika and Jamie Sharp of Las Vegas.
