GROWING COMMUNITY: Taking shape
From hospitality to retail to residential ventures, '08 to be busy year

Since it was established in 1990, Summerlin -- developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., which is an affiliate of General Growth Properties Inc. -- keeps expanding. The latest neighborhoods are to the west of the Las Vegas Beltway.

The 22,500-acre master-planned community still has about 7,000 acres yet to develop. One of the newest additions is mid-rise housing, in the form of C2 Lofts Summerlin Las Vegas, off West Charleston Boulevard and the Beltway.

Hiking year-round possible in Southern Nevada

If one of your New Year's resolutions is to spend more time outdoors, a good self-motivating technique, to make good on your intentions, is to organize a schedule of choice hikes you'd like do this year and when you'll do them. Devising the complete schedule in advance means you can build variety into it, yet won't run out of appropriate weather before getting around to some especially good hike.
