Question: A friend gave me a jade plant last year. I kept it in the kitchen with plenty of indirect light. The room is very bright and airy. It was doing very well for a year. However, I found it very pale, and so my friend suggested I expose it to the morning sun. I have for about a month now, but a few leaves have turned reddish on the back. Is this normal, or is it having too much sun?
Jades prefer bright light of a south-facing window if grown inside and an eastern exposure if grown outside.
Optimum temperatures are usually around 75 degrees by day and 50-55 degrees by night. There is nothing wrong with your jade. If you bring it indoors, the red will disappear after a short time.
