FRED COUZENS/VIEWBoulder City Police Chief Tom Finn points out mold damage in the city police station building. As a result of mold being discovered in the 57-year-old building last month, the City Council Jan. 8 approved transferring $35,000 from the contingency fund for mold remediation work and another $120,000 from voter-approved capital improvement funds for roof repairs. Finn said the mold was found mostly in the area where the Senior Center previously had its kitchen, but also in a leaky roof and a broken water fountain drainpipe below the floor drain in the kitchen. Walls had to be ripped out, ductwork removed and cleaned, and the men and women officers? locker rooms in the basement under the floor drain had to be locked up and go unused until the mold was removed and the air inside was safe to breathe again.
