The North Las Vegas Planning Commission held its bi-weekly meeting in Council Chambers 6 p.m., Jan. 9.
CONDO PROJECT COMES BEFORE PLANNING COMMISSION AGAIN
"It's like deja vu all over again," said one of the many North Las Vegas residents who filled Council Chambers as GSL Properties, on behalf of Route 215 Investors, brought forth its application for a reclassification of its Opus Condominiums project from a PUD, Planned Unit Development, to an R-3, Multi-Family Residential District.
The condominium project was brought before the Planning Commission for the first time two years ago, and per the 1990 Comprehensive Plan, was approved to construct 18 units to the acre. Under 2006 guidelines, Opus can be built to 25 units per acre.
Concerns about through-traffic in and about the Highland Hills area, increased housing density and what residents foresee as the devaluation of existing homes were among the objections to GSL Properties' application raised by residents.
The property is located at the northwest corner of Centennial Parkway and Valley Drive. After hearing from residents and GSL Properties representative, Att. Robert J. Gronauer, the application was approved by the Planning Commission.
HOME DEPOT APPROVED TO OFFER SCRATCH-N-DENT SALES
An application submitted by the Home Depot on behalf of Distribution Funding II LLC, property owner, would allow retail sales at the existing 5,000-square-foot warehouse property.
Sales would be made up of remainder appliances, or scratch-n-dent products. Warehouse sales would be held on a quarterly basis for the public.
The property is located at 3010 E. Alexander Road. The Planning Commission approved the application.
LANDSCAPING TO BE PLACED ON DEER SPRINGS WAY
The Planning Commission unanimously approved an application submitted by Deer Springs Town Center, LLC, to allow landscaping along the east property line where a screen wall is required.
The property is located on the northeast corner of Deer Springs Way and North 5th Street.
DUNKIN' DONUTS OK'D FOR ANN AND LOSEE ROADS
An application was submitted by Dunkin' Donuts on behalf of Ann Losee Pad LLC, property owner, for a special use permit in a PUD, Planned Unit Development District, to allow a convenience food restaurant.
The application was approved for the use of property at the northwest corner of Ann and Losee roads.

West Coast-based check cashing and loan services company, Moneytree Inc., seeking to open a deferred loan establishment at 6315 N. Losee Road, applied to the Planning Commission for a special use permit in a C-1, Neighborhood Commercial Zone.
