North Las Vegas Mayor Michael Montandon was joined by City Council members, as the opening also presented the occasion for Dunkin? Donuts to make a contribution to the Airman and Family Readiness Center at Nellis Air Force Base. The center connects military personnel and their families to family life skills, financial and relocation services. Dunkin? Donuts has plans for as many as 66 restaurants throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

NORTH LAS VEGAS CHAMBER CELEBRATES 60 YEARS

Join chamber president Tony Marinello for the 2008 board installation and 60th anniversary celebration Saturday at Santa Fe Conference Center, 4949 N. Rancho Drive.

CHANNEL 96 TO SHOW STATE OF THE CITY REBROADCAST

Cox Channel 96 will rebroadcast live "State of the City" addresses for the city of North Las Vegas today from 6 to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m.

CELEBRATE FRUITS OF THE HARVEST AT WEEKLY MARKET

The Thursday harvest market will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the campus of City Hall, 2200 Civic Center Drive. The Friday harvest market will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. at Nature Discovery Park, 2627 Nature Park Drive.

The Friday Harvest market at Nature Discovery Park has a new location on the other side of the park next to the library. Thursday's location will stay the same.

CITY OF NORTH LAS VEGAS STARTS VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

The office of Housing and Neighborhood Services of the city of North Las Vegas has started a volunteer program. The office is seeking volunteers to participate in focus groups, community cleanups, gardening projects, planning and other activities. Volunteers will be matched with projects in their area of interest for either the short or the long-term. A volunteer coordinator will provide support and supervision. CITY SEEKS TEEN LEADERS

The city is recruiting for its inaugural youth council. The group is being formed for Las Vegas teens ages 14 to 19.

The youth council will provide young people an opportunity to learn about local government first hand through activities, including job shadowing in their areas of interest.

The youth council will serve as an advisory commission to the North Las Vegas City Council.

The program will coincide with the school year, and most events will occur in the late afternoon or early morning. COMMUNITY COUNCIL TO MEET

The next meeting of the Northwest Area Command Community Council will be at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 28, at the Northwest Area Command Community Policing Facility, 3755 W. Washburn Road.

ALIANTE LIBRARY TO PRESENT FINANCE CLASSES

Making Ends Meet and Dreams Come True, a course on budgeting and maintaining good credit, will be presented by Jodi Mobley of Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Nevada from 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 28, at the Aliante Library, 2400 Deer Springs Way.

The next class, Things Don't Just Happen, will be Feb. 11.
