FREE DAY OF GOLF ABSOLUTELY ABSURD OR AN AWESOME IDEA
Your coverage of DragonRidge (Country Club) was interesting and well done ("Golf," View Neighborhood Newspapers, July 8).
However, at the conclusion of the article, you referenced the cost of membership at DragonRidge and followed that information up with the statement, "So, how many other courses are there in Las Vegas denying us our right to play?" Where does it say you have a right to play any course you choose?
I have been a member of The TPC at Summerlin for almost 20 years and made a decision to join in order to have the privilege to play a fine course in 31/2 hours rather than the five to six hours it takes to play Angel Park.
TPC Summerlin supports various charity events from time to time and you have an option of participation at those events by paying the donation amount.
You sound like a classic freeloader, which seems to run in the journalist community, when you suggest "GAD."
Play for free one day a year ... for FREE ... is laughable to those who belong to private clubs, and your handicap has nothing to do with it.
I am a member of the TPC Summerlin Membership Committee and would be glad to provide you an application for membership. Or you can play the TPC Canyons by paying the daily green fee as it is a quality course open to the public.
Too bad you messed up a good article by looking for something for nothing.

I enjoyed reading your article in today's View regarding your golf day at DragonRidge Country Club ("Golf," View Neighborhood Newspapers, July 8). I agree with your assessment of the course. It is very nice. I had the opportunity to play the course a couple of times when it was public. I played in the heat of the summer when the rates were affordable for me.
It certainly would be nice if some of the exclusive courses would have a free day once a year so the common folk could experience playing one of the great courses you mention. It is a great idea but one that I expect will never happen.
Thanks for writing such an enjoyable article to read.
