NATIONAL DRIVE-THRU DAY: Customer convenience
Motorists can stay in their cars for more than just grabbing fast food

National Drive-Thru Day is Thursday, but with summer heat blanketing the Las Vegas Valley, it's likely most drivers won't require a special day set aside just to take advantage of the convenience, instead opting to procure goods and services as much as possible from the air-conditioned comfort of their vehicles.

Regardless, if there's ever a Drive-Through Hall of fame, Las Vegas would perhaps be featured prominently. There are, of course, drive-through fast-food venues, banks and even pharmacies in nearly every corner of the country, but no other place seems to have embraced the drive-through concept as firmly as Las Vegas.

Boxers prepare for four days of fights and fun
Nonprofit gym provides training, serves as organizer of Golden Gloves Nationals

The Golden Gloves features the finest amateur boxers in the nation, and this week, they will meet to size up their competition, battle for championship belts, play video games and ride go-carts. The 2008 Junior Golden Gloves Nationals features boxers ages 9 to 16 and will take place Wednesday through Saturday in Mesquite.

The Golden Gloves is the pre-eminent amateur boxing organization in the United States, with a history of creating world champions and an unbroken run of annual bouts going all the way back to 1928.
