Wait hour during drip irrigation

Question: Am I mistaken, or is there a difference of opinion regarding how long and how often to water trees, shrubs and plants during the summer? Your recommendations to me were to water up to an hour, once each day, three times per week to promote deeper root penetration and less water evaporation from shallow watering. Made sense to me. Now I am totally confused and I am sure that others are, as well.

My recommendation when watering for one hour is for drip irrigation. I also would recommend, if someone really cornered me, about 12 to 15 minutes per irrigation with popup lawn sprinklers. With sprinklers for larger areas, such as those used in parks and athletic fields, it could be double that length of time.
