ROMANCE WRITER TO TALK ABOUT TITLES AT ENTERPRISE LIBRARY

The Cactus Rose Romance Writers of America Chapter's June 21 meeting features a presentation by Jennifer Ashley, author of 20 romance, mystery and mainstream novels, published under the names Jennifer Ashley, Allyson James and Ashley Gardner. Ashley plans to talk about the importance of a good title and how to make sure a book premise grabs the editor and doesn't let go.

Library to host GLBT Month author panel discussion

A panel of gay literary and media experts is scheduled to present Simply Fabulous! Writing Out Loud in Las Vegas, a special Meet the Authors program celebrating Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Month, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. Planned panelists include Gregory A. Kompes, Steve Friess, Tom Molinan and Shannon Stevens.

BOOK CLUB TO READ 'SNOW FLOWER AND THE SECRET FAN'

Mornings with Mari Book Club meets at 10 a.m. the third Saturday of each month at the 8915 W. Charleston Blvd. Barnes & Noble. On June 21, the club will discuss Lisa See's "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan."

JOIN LIBRARY'S CLUB READ

Kids can win a mood pencil, a children's museum pass or a gold medal through the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District's summer reading program. Activities at all branches continue through July 31. Participants log in books read and compete for chances to win four round-trip tickets from Southwest Airlines.

MASTER BUTLER TO SHARE STORIES AND SKILLS

'TALES OF CITY' AUTHOR TO SPEAK

The Clark County Library welcomes bestselling author Armistead Maupin at 7 p.m. on June 19. Maupin's work includes "Tales of the City," which began as a newspaper serial in the San Francisco Chronicle and grew into a six-novel series and a PBS television miniseries. His 2007 book "Michael Tolliver Lives" revisits a popular "Tales of the City" character.

Catch the Reading Bug with the North Las Vegas Library District's annual Summer Reading Club. Although this year's theme emphasizes books on bugs, participating students may choose books from any genre.

The Summer Reading Club is open to readers of all skill levels, from read-to-me to independent readers and teens. The club begins Saturday.
