PROPOSED BALLOT QUESTION: Ailing hospital
To save facility, voters to weigh creating district with tax-levying power

Boulder City Hospital's future rests in the hands of local residents who will vote in November on an advisory ballot question allowing Clark County to create a hospital district with authority to levy a property tax to support the cash-strapped facility.

If created, a new hospital district could potentially levy a tax of 15 cents per $100 assessed value on all Boulder City property.

Man protected by seat belt walks away from potentially fatal wreck

VIEW STAFF WRITER

Traffic Safety Sgt. Jim Reed stood at the scene of a May 27 rollover accident on U.S. Highway 95 at the U.S. Highway 93 off-ramp and said, "If he hadn't been wearing his seat belt, this had the potential of being a fatal wreck."

The "he" in this case is Hugo Rivera of Dolan Springs, Ariz., and he is one lucky man.
