MEETING TONIGHT TO ADDRESS LONE MOUNTAIN LAND USE

Clark County will hold a public meeting at 6 p.m. today at the Mountain Crest Community Center, 4701 N. Durango Drive, to give residents and property owners a chance to view changes to the land use map and to review policies associated with the land use plan in the Lone Mountain area.

Officials are seeking to gain public input to help further refine the land use plan.

SAMMY'S PIZZA HOSTING MONTH-LONG BOOK DRIVE

Comedian magician Mac King and Sammy's Woodfired Pizza are joining forces to support Spread the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids, a book drive that encourages restaurant guests to bring a new or gently used children's book targeting ages 4 to 12 to donate in exchange for a free Giant Messy Sundae certificate. The promotion continues until March 31.

King's March Reading Soiree, a special reading and pizza-eating event, will be held on March 24 at Sammy's Centennial Hills location, 7160 N. Durango Drive, in conjunction with the book drive.

EASTER, ST. PATRICK'S DAY EVENTS COMING UP

A free Easter egg hunt for ages 1 to 12 will be held at 10 a.m. on March 15 at Gibson Community School, 3990 W. Washington Ave. Registration is required. For more information, call 229-5096.

The Eggspectactular egg hunt and carnival for kids will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on March 15 at Brinley Community School, 6150 Smoke Ranch Road. The cost for carnival games is $1 for 10 tickets. The children's egg hunt is free. For more information, call 229-2642.

The sixth annual Shamrock Hunt for ages 1 to 8 will be held at 10 a.m. on March 15 at Cimarron Rose Community Center, 5591 N. Cimarron Road.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be held at 9 a.m. on March 22 at Cimarron Rose Community Center (229-1607) and Lied Community School, 5340 W. Tropical Parkway (229-5072). Registration is required and space is limited. The cost is $10 per child.

COUNTY SUMMER JOBS UP FOR GRABS

The Clark County Parks and Recreation Department's aquatics program is recruiting individuals ages 151/2 years and older to work as lifeguards, water safety instructors, cashiers and pool management staff for the summer season.

The county has 12 pools throughout the valley. Facilities will open to the public beginning on Memorial Day weekend and will remain open through weekends in September.

Lifeguard training classes are available during March, April, May and June.

Early enrollment is recommended because training classes fill up quickly as summer approaches. Information on class dates and locations is available by contacting the Seasonal Aquatics Office at 455-8508, the Desert Breeze Aquatic Office at 455-7798, option 2, or on the department's Web site.

Applications can be picked up at the Aquatics Office, 5800 E. Flamingo Road, 455-8508; and at the Desert Breeze Aquatic Office, 8275 Spring Mountain Road, 455-7798.
