HENDERSON INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL SPONSORS AWARDS

The Henderson International School is sponsoring the Meritas Awards, a program that grants 20 full-tuition scholarships for high school students entering grades 9-11 from public, parochial or private schools. The scholarships are available for students with strong academic backgrounds whom are skilled particularly in one or more of the following: music, theater, dance, visual arts and athletics.

To apply, students must submit an official transcript from their current school, provide two letters of recommendation and provide a written description of extracurricular involvement. The application deadline is April 18. For more information, contact Amy Hall at 818-2122.

DEL SOL HIGH SCHOOL TO HOLD RENAISSANCE FAIRE

Del Sol High School, 3100 E. Patrick Lane, will hold its second annual Renaissance Faire on March 28 from 2 to 6 p.m., and on March 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 799-6830.

EMPLOYEE REUNION PLANNED FOR CORTNEY MIDDLE SCHOOL

Cortney Middle School, 5301 E. Hacienda Ave., will hold an all-employee reunion at 1 p.m. on April 12 at Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road. The event is open to all staff members who have worked at the school since its opening 10 years ago. Cost is $10 per person, children younger than 10 are free. The school will provide food. Education Foundation helps pay for college

The Public Education Foundation is offering scholarships to high school seniors planning to continue their education at an accredited college or university. The scholarships range from $500 to $40,000 and applications must be postmarked by Friday to be eligible for consideration. Applicants also can deliver their applications to the Foundation's office, 3360 W. Sahara Ave., Suite 160, on or before Friday. Interested students can access applications online at www.thepef.org. Students may apply for more than one scholarship.

VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL TO HOLD EATING DISORDER VIGIL

There will be an eating disorders awareness candlelight vigil at 5:30 p.m. on Monday on the soccer field at Valley High School, 2839 S. Burnham Ave.

VISION SOURCE TO AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS

Vision Source is awarding three 2008 graduates of Las Vegas, Henderson or Boulder City high schools with $1,000 scholarships. The See the Change scholarship rewards students for academic achievement, as well as contributions to community service projects. Students must demonstrate visionary thinking in developing community service-based solutions to health issues that challenge Las Vegas. In essay format, students will describe what they see as an important health issue and present a community service project that will solve or ease the burden of that health issue.

Applications are available at www.visionsourcevegas.com, through CCSD or at any one of the 10 Vision Source offices. Applications must be dropped off in person to a local Vision Source office no later than March 14.

APPLICANTS SOUGHT FOR EPICUREAN FOUNDATION

The Epicurean Charitable Foundation Las Vegas is seeking applications for its annual college scholarship program. Candidates need to be senior high school students who are passionate about pursuing a career in the hospitality and culinary arts industries.

Scholarship applications are available online at www.ecflv.org and must be submitted by Friday.

MCDONALD'S OFFERS SCHOLARSHIPS TO SENIORS

The Ronald McDonald House of Las Vegas and the McDonald's Owner Operators of Greater Las Vegas are offering scholarships to local graduating seniors with a 2.5 cumulative, unweighted GPA who plan to attend an accredited post-secondary education institution in the fall. The required application documents must be completed and returned to the Ronald McDonald house by Friday.

Applications for scholarships are available online at www.rmhlv.com or www.ccpef.org. Students also can call 252-4663 for more information.

ATHLETES CAN RECEIVE MILK PROGRAM AWARDS

High school seniors can apply for the Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year awards program at http://sammy.bodybymilk.com. All applicants are required to describe in 75 words or less how they incorporate milk into their everyday life and training regimen.

Winners will receive a $7,500 scholarship, attend an awards ceremony with celebrity guests at The Milk House at Disney's Wide World of Sports and appear in a milk mustache ad in USA Today.
