VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR AUDIT COMMITTEE

CSN TO RECOGNIZE COMMUNITY LEADERS AT ANNUAL GALA

The College of Southern Nevada Foundation will recognize seven community leaders at its annual Legacy of Achievement Gala on April 26 at Caesars Palace. Recipients, who will have an endowed scholarship at CSN in each of their names, are selected based on the overall and lasting impact of their contributions locally, statewide and nationally.

Legacy honorees include KLAS-TV Channel 8 news anchor Paula Francis; civil rights activist Dr. James McMillan (posthumous); Marie McMillan, an aviation instructor and international flight speed record holder; Julie Foley Murray, chief executive officer of Three Square; President of Nevada Power Co. Donald "Pat" Shalmy; and CSN professor Dr. Larry Tomlinson (posthumous).

KIDS TO KIDS ADOPTS SEWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Kid to Kids, a children's literacy program serving at-risk children and students in the CCSD, adopted Sewell Elementary School on March 13. The organization distributed books during the event and will continue to donate titles on a monthly basis to kids at the school, located at 700 E. Lake Mead Drive.

EIGHT MAGNET SCHOOLS RECEIVE AWARDS

Eight CCSD schools received honors in the Magnet Schools of America Merit Awards. The Schools of Excellence Award went to Miller Elementary and Bridger and Martin middle schools. The Schools of Distinction Award went to the Advanced Technologies Academy, the Southeast Career and Technical Academy, and Mackey, Hoggard and Bracken elementary schools.

DEL SOL TO HOST RENAISSANCE FAIRE

Del Sol High School, 3100 E. Patrick Lane, will hold its second annual Renaissance Faire on March 28 from 2 to 6 p.m., and March 29, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 799-6830.
