A deferral of offsite trail and landscape improvements on Boulder Highway adjacent to the Wildfire Casino was unanimously approved at the Oct. 21 Henderson City Council Meeting.

Station Casinos, which owns Wildfire, must provide trail and landscape improvements in conjunction with renovations to the building along Boulder Highway as part of the Boulder Highway Beautification Plan.

The trail and landscape section will consist of a 10-foot-wide meandering asphalt trail that is 230 feet long with landscaping and trail lighting.

The Parks and Recreation Department supported a deferral of trail and landscape improvements along Boulder Highway. The applicant must post a bond for $66,971.30 within 30 days.

The council including, Mayor Jim Gibson, Ward 1 Councilwoman Gerri Schroder, Ward 2 Councilman Andy Hafen, Ward 3 Councilman Jack Clark and Ward 4 Councilman Steve Kirk, approved an interlocal agreement with Clark County for the Nuclear Waste Repository program from Sept. 2, 2008, to June 30, 2009. This agreement, originally established in July 2004, establishes the roles that the city will play in the Clark County Nuclear Waste Repository program and related activities and allocates funding accordingly.

The city will be reimbursed by the Nuclear Waste Division of Clark County for a maximum of $15,000 for the public outreach efforts with Aztec Communication, and $60,000 for the monitoring program with Urban Environmental Research.
