VILLAGE SQUARE TO SHOW LIVE MET OPERA BROADCASTS

National CineMedia and the Metropolitan Opera in New York City plan to show live performances in movie theaters across the United States. In the Summerlin area, the participating theater for the Metropolitan Opera: Live series, which will be transmitted in high-definition starting this month, is Village Square 18, 9400 W. Sahara.

Kicking off the season on Monday and celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Met, the big-screen opening night gala will star soprano Renée Fleming.

OPERA LAS VEGAS PRESENTS PUCCINI 150-YEAR CELEBRATION

Conductor Marek Rachelski leads Opera Las Vegas singers and an orchestra in a Puccini 150-Year Celebration at 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

Tickets are $40 for orchestra seating, $35 for general admission and $25 for students with identification. Tickets may be purchased at all Station Casinos or by phone at 547-5300. Tickets also are available through Opera Las Vegas at 459-6353.

SINGERS SOUGHT FOR CHOIR GROUP'S UPCOMING SEASON

Auditions are open for the Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society's 46th season. The 65-voice choir's first performance is Nov. 9.
