DEALERSHIP RAISES FUNDS FOR BRAIN TUMOR FOUNDATION

Carter Powersports, a motorcycle and ATV dealership at 6275 S. Decatur Blvd., raised more than $1,300 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation from a recent in-store auction. The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation is the world's largest non-governmental source of funding for childhood brain tumor research.

BANK TO WELCOME BLOODMOBILE, DONORS

Nevada Commerce Bank will host a blood drive for the United Blood Services bloodmobile from 8 a.m. to noon Monday in the bank parking lot, 6795 Edmond St. Each donor will receive a cholesterol screening prior to donation.

HEART WALK TO BE HELD IN MOUNTAIN'S EDGE PARK

American Heart Association's Heart Walk is Oct. 11 at Exploration Peak Park, near the corner of Blue Diamond Road and South Buffalo Drive in Mountain's Edge. Registration opens at 8 a.m., and the walk begins at 9 a.m. The walk is free. Donations are welcome. To register, visit www.lasvegasheartwalk.org.

RESTAURANT URGES PEOPLE TO EAT OUT TO FIGHT HUNGER

Hash House A Go Go, 6800 W. Sahara Ave., will team with American Express in its annual Share Our Strength's Great American Dine Out. NEVADA POWER CO. SPONSORING YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Nevada Power Co. is sponsoring Future Leaders Embracing Diversity, a free leadership program for youth ages 15 to 18.

Spring Valley company named fastest-growing

Capstone Brokerage Inc. recently made Inc. Magazine's list of the nation's top 5,000 fastest-growing private companies, the only Nevada-based company to make the list. Capstone Brokerage, 2675 S. Jones Blvd., was ranked 1,146 nationwide.

Jeep tours promise to help fight breast cancer

Pink Jeep Tours and Nevada Cancer Institute will kick off October's Breast Cancer Awareness month with its Trek for the Cure event. Throughout the month, Pink Jeep Tours will donate $4.80 from each Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area tour to the Nevada Cancer Institute. The tour is $89 per person.
