MOMS CLUB OF SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS: Flamingo invasion
Southwest-area group uses lawn ornaments to help raise money to benefit American Cancer Society

If you spot a band of three dozen moms coasting in minivans through southwest Las Vegas neighborhoods with pink flamingo lawn ornaments in hand, don't call the cops. Instead, MOMS Club of Southern Highlands is hoping you'll hand over a $20 donation to the American Cancer Society.

The club's goal is to rake in thousands of dollars of donations throughout October -- Breast Cancer Awareness Month -- with the help of a quirky fundraising idea.

Central Christian Church adds southwest campus
Area services of 10,000-plus congregation held at Desert Oasis High

Pews continue to fill at Central Christian Church, which has tripled in size to more than 10,000 people over the past decade to become Nevada's largest congregation.

The church's swelling membership triggered Central Christian to open two new campuses, one out of Desert Oasis High School, 6600 W. Erie Ave., in southwest Las Vegas, and a virtual campus on its Web site, www.central christian.com.
