Neptune Society works to keep pace with 70 percent local cremation rate

Here's a fascinating statistic: Nevada, at 69.9 percent, has the highest cremation rate in the United States. And more specifically, right here at home, the cremation rate for Las Vegas is more than 70 percent.
Because of that telling statistic, the Neptune Society, the largest cremation company in the nation, held its national sales meeting at Caesars Palace two months ago. John Walker, Las Vegas sales manager for the Neptune Society, said Nevada always has been a leader when it comes to choosing cremation.

Original Rat Pack maitre d' is back
George Levine recalls days of iconic foursome

It seems that everyone who lives here has a story, real or imagined, about Frank, Sammy, Dean or Joey. George Levine has hundreds of them, but none are imagined. In the 1970s, when the original Rat Pack played the Copa Room at the Sands, Levine was the showroom's maitre d'.
"It was wonderful," he said. "I knew all of them and they were just regular guys."
